Often Imitated but Never Duplicated…
That’s the motto regarding North Carolina’s largest annual bikefest, officially known as The NC Bikefest. Entering its 10th year, The NC Bikefest has grown to become a very popular event within the motorcycle community and drag racing enthusiasts alike. Its founder, Terry Brackett, is well-known in the NC drag racing circuit as the man involved with the ever popular Big Dog races at Piedmont Dragway.
Terry started drag racing in the late ‘80s, running street cars as well as motorcycles, which is what brought him to supporting an event that would allow him and his friends to hit the track on a regular basis. The Big Dog race is still held the 1st Thursday of every month at Piedmont Dragway near Greensboro, NC. As the Big Dog races grew larger, Terry soon envisioned a market for a similar event for motorcycle racing, hence the start of The NC Bikefest.
Eventually, the NC Bikefest grew too large for its original venue and was relocated to Piedmont Dragway. To maintain the successful run, Terry provides something different every year. Whether it’s featuring different stunt teams or stunt competitions, pro-street cars, Big Dog cars or varying entertainment including live DJ, attendees are sure to walk away ready for the next year’s event. Another key to Terry’s success is the amount of hard work he puts into the event each year. He realizes the importance of caring about his fan-base and what they want to get out of the event. The event is definitely not just all about him. He wants everyone to have a good time and come back the next year. So he is sure to offer lots of vendors, great food and activities for everyone.
